Citing health reasons and major ongoing changes at U$C for the decision.  Gotta think he would have been a Stanford advocate in December, sigh.  Seems like the best decision for him though.

"I am reluctant to step down, but my doctors advised me to reduce my traveling," Haden said in a statement released on Friday through the CFP. "With the weekly CFP meetings about to start and the travel commitment involved, I had to make this difficult decision. I feel it is in the best interest of the CFP and also of USC, with our current football coaching change and our upcoming Coliseum renovation."

Are we sure about that? I know there's something to be said for conference allegiance but his sideline incident makes me wonder.

If that's true, I'm sure we can do better than him.  I s'pose he's not a bad guy, if you're an S.C. fan.  But folks like him can't think straight about football - their S.C. derangement screws everything up.

If that's true, I'm sure we can do better than him.  I s'pose he's not a bad guy, if you're an S.C. fan.  But folks like him can't think straight about football - their S.C. derangement screws everything up.

Well, the conference would be due $8.08 million in the event a team (Stanford) makes the playoffs, so I'm sure Haden would have been a Cardinal fan, at least temporarily.  I don't know how the conference distributes that money but I'm sure SC would have received a chunk.
