The Arizona setter was taking advantage of Ivana and dumped it over her twice. Later I noticed she was more prepared for this, but I don't know if it impacted her blocking. While we had some impressive blocks, generally we didn't do that well. UofA got one more block than us.
Our nemesis, service errors, was back again. 11 errors, 2 each for Madi, Jordan, Halland, Kelsey. Hayley had 3 aces and 3 service errors, so that's ok.
I remember looking up and seeing we had 5 players with between 6 and 8 kills. That's pretty good distribution (but not necessarily optimum).
Once again, we were tied 1-1 in sets, and fell behind in the 3rd set. We were down 5-9 when the coach called the timeout. I don't know what he said, or why the team responded, but we started climbing back into it (with ties at 13, 14,15) and then steam rolled them (winning 25-18). Hayley got two of her three aces in one set of serves.
We never fell behind in the final set, but from a 10-10 tie, we won 25-14. (Interesting stat... In the 3 sets that Stanford won, there was only one lead change total.)
I don't know what lies ahead in the tournament, but this team is self-taught in coming from behind. I just hope they can minimize the need for it.
