The modified error is the error in average score plus the error in spread.  If you nailed WSU and were off by 19 on our score, you overestimated the spread by 19 points and overestimated the average score by 9.5 points.

For next season, I think the penalty for picking the wrong team to win should be substantially increased. Nothing personal, teejers, but no way should he be ranked above three dozen or so folks who correctly picked the winner when he did not.

On this board, picking against Stanford when we get a win should be a capital offense.  That is, they should be eliminated from the contest.  With this rule, if you pick against the Cardinal you'd better be right.  The rule shouldn't be applied if we pick Stanford and they lose.  There should be no penalty for that.  ;)
