QB inexperience if my biggest concern, followed closely by replacing Garnett and Murphy.  Before the first game Shaw said the backup QBs would get plenty of time, and not just garbage time and that we wouldn't go into next season with an inexperienced QB.  That didn't happen.  Chryst may have played a bit more than Burns but neither in critical situations.  I am not criticizing Shaw given the results of this season but it does concern me.  Let's face it.  If Burns doesn't know the playbook backwards by now he's not going to learn it this summer.  Chryst?  Dunno.  Stanford should invest in personal VR set-ups for each of them plus Costello and require them to sleep with them.

I believe djones is Craig Jones' father, so yes, insider knowledge.

Kaumatule really got screwed over by getting moved to TE when he arrived on campus. I think the problem is that he looks more like he's suited to playing a 4-3 DE. They moved him to OLB briefly but it didn't really stick. I expect next year he'll get some playing time as a pass-rushing DE in nickel looks, but who knows?

OLine should maintain, good skill players, best TEs in the nation, amazing RB group.

Yeah, odd that AD left out our best returning cornerback.  Holder and Murphy will anchor the outside.  Alexander - how can I put this gently - struggled in coverage when pressed into duty when Holder/Harris were hurt.

I think Davis is more proven than Perez, though the experience will hopefully switch the lightbulb on for Perez.  Not everyone has Shayne Skov's instincts early on.

Davis and Davidson have barely played I think both have been passed up by younger players.

Holder will definitely play, it will be a fierce competition between him, Meeks, Alexander and I think Long will be too good to keep off the field.

Why would it be a 'long shot' that a soft commit comes to Stanford?  The dude might have trouble with admissions, but none of us will know that until he decommits.

I don't subscribe to any of the services, so I'm really not sure about Long, but the smoke signals don't look good. Counting him in the two-deep seems premature. Weeks, on the other hand, came up brobdingnagian as the season continued, and I'm really excited to see how he develops. Coaches before the season, IIRC, singled him it as being the most physically ready (among his clobber of DB) to move into the college game, so I will count him as a very talented CB.

I want Anan to be successful and ready to step in as a RS freshman NT, but will need to wait until at least the spring to see if he is near ready. Phillips could go in a pinch, but I agree it's not his natural position. If one of the other NT/DT candidates can step up, I think Thomas and Philips at the DE positions would be a tremendous duo.

At LB I wonder if there could be any thought of moving someone like Alfieri to the inside, particularly if our newly-minted 5* recruit just wows people in August? I don't really expect that, though Skov was starting by mid season of his true frosh year. I think we will be ok no matter what, and trust the coaches to find the right combination of talent and get them in the right places.
