CornFed, I wish I could tell you where we are tailgating but won't know until we get there. The good news is the beer will be cold, the scotch Oban and the vodka Belvedere. The DIL drinks Jack and Coke. No one's perfect. The maybe but probably not bad news is that the chef is second generation. Now in his 4th decade however, he is coming along nicely. Look for a Stanford-clad man in his forties, 6' 5" and a grey haired man, 6'0" giving instructions and that might be us.

Being car-free certainly is feasible, easy, better for the environment, and will save you the parking fee, not to mention the headache of driving out of the golf course post-game.
We did this for the 2013 and 2014 Rose Bowls. Yes, Gold Line to Memorial Park. Do this early enough, and you can walk two blocks from the station, watch a few floats at the Parade (though the crowd is at least ten deep at that spot), then walk two blocks to Parsons Corp and catch the free shuttle, of which there are many. The alumni association tailgate is just north of the stadium, again a short walk.
The only downside of the shuttle is post-game: The line is unbelievably long. We got in it, but bailed when it kept going and going and going ... then doubled back. We walked back to the Memorial Park station both times. You don't need to memorize the route, as there will be a large number of people doing the same walk.
We can't do the Gold Line this year. We stayed at the Millenium Biltmore both times (Anthony Travel had reserved it through the official Stanford travel package) which was very easy - the Metro station was right across the street. But the Biltmore this year was booked by an Iowa travel package. I had thought about parking my rental car near a Gold line station and taking the train to Pasadena, but I suspect tons of parade-goers will be doing the same thing. So I hope you are staying close to a station.

Regarding a CardBoard meetup, it seems like it would be convenient to do it on Wednesday 12/30 in conjunction with the Pep Rally and the Buck/Cardinal Club gathering in Santa Monica. Both of those events take place in Santa Monica Place (www.santamonicaplace.com), a big, beautiful outdoor mall in the heart of Santa Monica. The Pep Rally is 5-6:30pm (presumably in the mall courtyard) followed immediately by a Buck/Cardinal Club gathering in the Sonoma Wine Garden (top floor of the mall). It's not clear if there is anything planned at the Buck/Cardinal Club gathering or if it's simply just a designated place to meet. There will apparently be light appetizers.
I think that it may be most convenient for Cardboarders to try and find each other at the Sonoma Wine Garden, but I figure I'll ask: would people rather meetup at BuckCardinal/Sonoma Wine Garden, or someplace else? If people prefer someplace else, there is a food court in the mall that could be convenient.

I doubt that I'll make it to anything on the 30th, but I'll be at the alumni tailgate. If anyone happens to be walking past the '90s section, keep an eye out for me. Conveniently enough, I'll be wearing a sticker with my Cardboard handle on it.

I am flying into Burbank landing around 10am and ubering to the Rose Bowl. I want to maximize tailgate time. Any suggestions of what route to minimize traffic to get there fastest or where to have the uber dropoff? I don't mind walking the last half mile or so and hopping out of the Uber when traffic stops.Â

Any suggestions of what route to minimize traffic to get there fastest or where to have the uber dropoff? I don't mind walking the last half mile or so and hopping out of the Uber when traffic stops.
It may not look like the fastest route on a map, but from Burbank airport I'd advise the Uber driver to take the 5 south to the 134 east to the 2 north to the 210 east. This will let you avoid Rose Parade traffic, and most of the game traffic, too.

Barneys is a sports bar in the SM 3rd st promenade near there which would probably suffice. Big tap list, standard decent bar food, lots of space. If people would be open to heading a bit south to Venice area, Hinano's would be an excellent choice. Tons of choices really.

What tends to happen at the Buck/Cardinal events? No LSJUMB or any type of entertainment? Have never been to one.

Oh and BTW decent beer selection, large front and rear patio. I could call and see if it is feasible. I play backgammon there with a HS friend every time I am in town.
