Good suggestions on places for a Cardboard Meetup. Of those, I imagine that someplace on the 3rd Street Promenade like Barney's might be the easiest to get to. I'll try to swing by to check out some places this week in my spare time (hahahahahahahaha!!! there's never spare time with a baby)

I second 97Fan's suggestion about taking the counter-intuitive, less-direct, 210-E path to get to the Rose Bowl. In 2012, the Rose Bowl's official site urged people to take that route. I remember being astounded at how easy and clear it was (and I remember other people's horror stories about taking the 134-E directly into Pasadena)

And yeah, I have no idea what is planned for the Buck/Cardinal gathering, but it's certainly possible that $10 buys you admission into a roped-off area in an otherwise free restaurant plus some appetizers.

I took the 210 each of the last two times. It made absolutely no sense at all -- coming from Long Beach, it was like making a giant letter z on the map -- but it was smooth sailing the whole way. If you're early enough, you'll even miss traffic.

I am flying into Burbank landing around 10am and ubering to the Rose Bowl. I want to maximize tailgate time. Any suggestions of what route to minimize traffic to get there fastest or where to have the uber dropoff? If you have lanyards with ticket slots from the last few bowl games, you can put your game ticket on one side and your tailgate ticket on the other.  If not, go buy one it's worth it.  Preserves your ticket and you never have to worry about where it is all day long.

Excellent advice. My wife and I paid twenty bucks for two ticket lanyards last time. It sounds ridiculous, but I've always had a thing about tickets as keepsakes, and these tickets are simply too beautiful to be folded up in a pocket. (We ended up selling ONE of those lanyards for twenty bucks during the game, so it worked out.)

You can also get the Rose Bowl T shirts for cheap from the vendors on the street post game as you walk back to the Parsons Corp lot.  (The line for the shuttles back to downtown Pasadena are just waaaaay too long so we always walked). Those prices also drop to around $5 a shirt as the vendors have no market for them on January 2nd.
