Quote:Ferrari - I'm dying to know what a "retried bean" is and what greater impact it has on the earth's atmosphere? Let the Mexican food jokes fly forth!
I don't see why this is a big deal. The Constitution's prohibition of double jeopardy has never been held to extend to beans, as Robert Horn emphasized repeatedly in his poli sci course on constitutional law.
"[N]or shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb...."Â U.S. Const., Amend. V.Â
Pretty straightforward, really. A bean is not a person, and cannot be said to have limbs. Whether beans have "lives," however, has not been addressed by caselaw.Â
I wonder about the necessity of even holding trials for beans, really. Seems like a waste of judicial resources when beans lack brains, and thus lack the ability to form the culpable mental state which is a necessary element of most offenses. I should think that summarily whipping or boiling the rogue beans would be perfectly consistent with the Constitution.

In this age of political correctness and hypersensitivity to micro-aggression I am shocked that some here, who might be considered "enlightened" have no sympathy for beans. Is it because they don't look like you? Or simply that they didn't get admitted? Whatever, I am ashamed of you. Open your minds, learn, and hopefully grow.
"Despite the fact that science is finally recognizing plants as sensual beings, the dominant attitude toward plants still assumes a lack of feeling and awareness. Our ethics of plant life has not caught up with this new information. This is evident in the continued deforestation of the worlds most biodiverse ecosystems like the Amazon rainforest, and our willingness to play around with plant DNA in the lab.
Hopefully, as our attitudes toward nature and the Earth continue to shift, we will start to live in balance with the plants and animals we share this beautiful, magical planet with, as if everyday were Earth Day."

Sure, but I'm not a vegan because I love animals, I'm a vegan because I HATE plants. :P
