Do you have Insider? The article seemed mostly vapid to me. "Things will keep happening because they've been happening lately" is how I'd summarize the article. Might be true, or might not be, but either way the article didn't really give me any reason to think we're in a good spot that I wasn't already aware of (and I bet several people here could do better).

Nope, don't have insider.  And, I didn't really post it because of the content, which I'm not surprised is vapid.  I posted it because 10 years ago, that headline would have seemed ridiculous.  We had just come off our fourth straight losing season (one in which we lost to UC-friggin-Davis), and were headed into the darkest year of my Stanford fandom.  "Elite recruiting"? I would have settled for "Competent coaching".

Yeah, the fact that we're routinely getting top-20 classes and pundits are saying to expect it to continue is pretty remarkable.

Incidentally, if you want Insider at all, just look for one of those dumb magazine subscription deals. I think I got 5 years for like $10. It does mean that I kill some trees with the magazine I never read, but oh well.

My favorite was the 1Q of the WSU game that year, where we were outgained 150-something to 2, but were only losing 2-0, because they had fumbled twice and we had given up a safety.  Just plain weird.  And of course then we lost bad.

I think here would be a great place to point out that McCaffrey had 190.3 yards from scrimmage per game all his lonesome.  Add in Michael Rector's 39.5 yards from scrimmage per game, and the duo comes in just shy of  the entire team's output a decade ago.

That year, I think we broke 30 points one time all season, a 35-34 loss to San Jose State.  Last year, in contrast...
