I can't access Youtube from work, but I can guess what that clip is :)  It's been all over the rowing media--those guys are a great story (one of the rowers at my club is Irish).

The brothers have a solid background of rowing and training together, so that helps immeasurably.  The US LM2x started rowing together about a year ago--(they agreed to co-locate geographically and structure their lives around training together), and so their results have surpassed what was expected of them.  The O'Donovans already had that technical chemistry, and apparently the aerobic capacities.  Glad to see them do so well.

She's also an academic all-american and will be continuing at Stanford in graduate school in mechanical engineering.

Men: beat Poland (defending world champion, #2 in the world according to the FIBA rankings) 3-0 in the QF this morning. After losing their first two matches and looking flat they have won four in a row (including a must-win against #1 ranked Brazil) while playing with a lot of energy. Erik Shoji has been excellent at libero; Kawika Shoji doesn't play since he backs up the phenomenal Micah Christenson at setter.

Women: undefeated, playing Serbia in the SF tomorrow. They beat Serbia 3-1 in group play last week. The US front lines have been consistently strong, the rotations with Foluke at the net have dominated.

That was an amazing match. I hated Taylor Sander in college, but I'm loving him on the USMNT. And Shoji is getting much love from the commentators. Kawika did get in for the the last few points against Mexico when the US coach cleared the bench. At this point, the way they're playing, they've got to be the favorite to win, eh?

Sander's hitting percentage has been low but he seems to consistently come up with clutch plays when they are needed, and he is always firing up his teammates who otherwise are mostly cool/calm. US will play Italy in the final on Friday after beating Hungary 14-10 today. 4 goals for Maggie Steffens led the team again, and she also played strong 2 meter defense.

I generally watch the pin hitters, but Erik's the best player on the floor most nights.  He's the best libero easily in the tournament.  Micah is a superb setter, and Russell and Anderson are terrific pin hitters.  Still not sold on Sander, but he's playing better every match.
