He's our number three returning returning weapon after McAffrey and Rector. I think losing him is a big deal as his presence applies pressure on the defense and allows M and R to get more open.
Will it matter against KSU? I think so when we're breaking in a new QB and OL, we may need all our weapons to open up the offense.

34-17. KSU scores first, much hand wringing occurs. Stanford then goes on a 27-3 run. Midway through the fourth quarter KSU scores one more, and Stanford responds to close out the game. The hand wringing stops briefly.

If McCaffrey says the defense will shock the world, maybe we shut out KSU until the backups start rotating in...

Sherman: Ertz is a promising talent, and hell have good days in 2016. Im just not expecting to see one of them Friday night, especially as left tackle Scott Frantz and left guard Tyler Mitchell, both redshirt freshmen, protect his blind side. K-State will devise a solid plan to slow McCaffrey, but hell get loose a time or two as the Cardinal avoid another Week 1 debacle to win 35-17.

It's really interesting reading the media's take on what Stanford's strengths are heading into this season. It wasn't that long ago when our QB and OL/DL were the most solidified units on the field, according to the analysts, whereas our skill positions and secondary units were seen as the overwhelming weaknesses. My oh my how the tables have (seemingly) turned in just a handful of years.

I think the idea is more that, relative to other (recent) Stanford teams, this year's version is strong among the small guys and unknown among the big guys (and QB, but this year those guys are pretty big). Whether that really comprises the team's strengths and weaknesses versus other top 25 teams remains to be seen - and my guess is probably not.

My feelings precisely. I want to experience and remember this season as a national championship season of epic dimensions until we lose a second game. If that happens, I'll settle in and savor the rest of the season for whatever it brings. Go Indians/Cardinal!!!!!!
