A bad season this year doesn't necessarily mean that our NFL-eligible stars will stay for another year. I think the tape will show their potential regardless of whether the rest of the team is performing sufficiently. But we can always dream :)

I think the idea is more "unfinished business" than "we suck so much we killed their draft stock", but it's kind of pointless to speculate.

Yeah, plenty of stories of players who hurt their draft stock in their 4th/5th year. Going to be his decision.

Yes, Ed has hinted that on multiple occasions. But I am not ruling out completely the chance of Christian coming back. I think he hinted at the possibility in one of his tweets. (wishful thinking...)

I don't think Phillips would be drafted at the current time. That wouldn't necessarily stop him from trying, but I don't think Stanford has ever had a junior declare for the draft then not get drafted.

Keiser left after his senior year, though he had a year of eligibility left.

In modern times, I think three Stanford Juniors have left for the NFL. Each of them played their frosh year and each got drafted 3rd round or better. Peat and Carter after the 2014 season and Hooper after 2015. In the draft: Peat #13 (1st round), Carter #80 (3rd round), Hooper #81 (3rd round).

Unless CMac turns things around, I think this season has hurt his draft stock. After last season he looked like a 1st round pick. Now, I doubt it. If he thinks he can show better next year, it could be the smart financial decision to stay.

It was a radio interview that I can't readily find at the moment. I suppose I could hunt around for it, but he sounded like -- positively! -- a very driven guy. No problem with that, but in forecasting I think you can't discount ambitious people's pursuits.
