I had the same reaction to the opening H88. Interesting article nonetheless, I liked the detail about leaving the phone behind.

Except when he was hired by Stanford, he wasn't yet a top coach. By the time he dallied with Kansas, he had already made Stanford into a bowl team, which was already a great accomplishment.
