Maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there, but the categorization always had a bit of a racial tinge to it.

I had to laugh when I saw Mills characterized as a "Pro Style" QB after watching his highlight videos. No, he's not Michael Vick, but he is a great athlete with very good quickness with more than enough speed. He sure looked like a dual threat QB to me, which is why he was my #1 QB choice for Stanford in 2017, if I was deciding who it would be.

I can't remember the announcer who referred to Steve Young essentially as a plodding, pocket (white) quarterback, but one of the receivers laughed about it and noted that Young was the fastest player on the team.

Putting this to the test...I went back through 2013 in 247 composite's Pro and Dual-threat QBs, and compiled the top five QBs in each categorization over the five years. 88% of pro-style QBs are white, while 68% of dual-threat QBs are people of color.
