You are probably right, Garvin.  But as Terry pointed out you would have been equally justified in saying that before this extraordinary year, and Tara and the team gave us a very pleasant surprise.  Losing Jayne turned out to make us less one dimensional and forced other players to diversify and improve in ways that the fans probably did not expect.

By the way, Jeanette did not start a game her freshman year, although she did play more than Toni did this year.  She was playing behind Candice and JJ Hones but came in very regularly.

You may be mixing up her sophomore year with her freshman year. In Jeanette\'s sophomore year, JJ tore her ACL for the second time early in the year. At first Ros replaced her, but Tara was not satisfied with Ros\'s play at point guard and so Jeanette was pressed into service.

Looking at the box score for the Tennessee game where Jeanette played 36 minutes, she did not start. She played a lot partly because it was an OT game, partly I think because it was early in the year when JJ was coming back from her first ACL tear and JJ wasn\'t able to play much -- the box score says JJ played only 9 minutes that game, and the game recap doesn\'t mention her name.

That was a great game, by the way: the one where Ros scored 9 of Stanford\'s 10 points in overtime to beat Tennessee. I was listening to that game in Milwaukee on KZSU over a flaky internet connection that kept dropping -- frustrating but really exciting.

In the Davis game that year, Jeanette played 20 minutes and again did not start.
