Maybe someone who read Johnny O's posts on Thunderdome over there?  But new board, new start, long time source with an actual player's background.  Now, if he's willing to support our triennial voluntary fundraising "extravaganza" this Fall (at a quarter the cost of the Booty), what's not to like?  Works for me.

Just thought of something.  Does Johnny O know that this is not a democracy or even mob rule?  It's a theocracy of sorts and there is a ruling goddess somewhere who asserts her control from time to time.  Some, but not many,  well-liked posters got crosswise with her and hilarity did not follow.

Funny that they don't learn.  I gave up my subscription the last time they tried to change board formats.

Interestingly, Yvonne and her dedicated volunteer staff of 0 (or maybe 1 person helping) were able to change the version of the board software that runs this site overnight with minimal disruption.  Other than a couple of minor annoyances, everything went swimmingly.

I will not be renewing, so between now and my October 9th auto renewal date, I will have to call to cancel- you can't do it online. That by itself pi$$es me off.

I don't know if that was addressed to me, but the CEB will still be available whenever I feel an urgent need to be INSULTED. But I doubt if I will be posting there as much going forward.

I will do everything possible to maintain the board's tone while welcoming new visitors. That being said, I want to nip political discussions in the bud. This particular post is acceptable, but I fear the potential comments stemming from it. Religious proselytizing is also taboo in most cases, but in the life of the Cardboard, I have never seen such a post.

May not be the case with Stanford board(s), but the University itself would come to a screeching halt without acronyms. Just learning them took me quite a while when I started working there in 1989...
