It’ll be interesting to see where Love winds up on the draft boards.  McCaffrey got drafted so high because of his versatility — you also got his receiving and returning skills.  Love hasn’t yet really shown that to the same extent, so I wouldn’t expect him to be a first round player, but beyond that I don’t know where he’d go.

That's why I think him spending an offseason learning receiving/returning (though I doubt he needs that much work at returns) would do wonders to enhance his draft stock.  Right now he is an odd position when it comes to an NFL evaluation. He would be seen as a "change of pace" guy, and that's not someone you draft in the top 4 rounds. To give a real world illustration, CMac has been doing a lot more damage in the NFL through the air then on the ground, though some of that is surely due to offensive line issues.

I don't know which was more fun though, watching CMac juke people out of their shoes or watching Love make defenders pursuit angles look ridiculous as he runs right by them.

What I love about Love is not only is he fast and shifty, but he runs tough, through tackles the way Stefan Taylor could, but with the same kind of breakaway threat that Nelson and McCaffrey had.  I'm pretty sure Love is just a bit faster than McCaffrey, and I think he and Darren might be a very close matchup over 50-75 yards.  But it's his toughness that sets him apart IMHO.

Agreed. Even though he's a lot smaller than Toby, he has the same tendency to fall forward. Love has really exceeded my expectations, which were already pretty high.

I don't think he returns or plays in the bowl game at this pace.  He's an incredible runner.  And our bowl game will be second tier, in all likelihood.

Six games in a row with a run of 50 yards or more. This happens with high school superstars, NOT in the NCAA. As Saturday's game wore on, I noticed each time the Stanford offense crossed midfield, sadly realizing that each such drive, while pushing the Cardinal on to victory, reduced the likelihood that the streak would continue. As it turned out, I shouldn't have been worried. I think I woke up the entire house when he unleashed that last run. "That's six straight games!"

Watched my recording of the game last night after being there Saturday.  Love's block was great but the best part was when the UCLA defender got back up to pursue Costello, he looked back at Love with what I believe was a "What the hell was that?!" look.  Maybe one of our video experts/millenials can provide the link to the clip.
