I understand and value sportsmanship, and it's something I preach to the kids I coach -- but I completely understand why Rosen might've just wanted to get the heck outta Dodge. In fact, I often look at those post game scenes with kids from both teams milling about and chatting with each other amiably when only minutes before they were pounding each other, and I wonder how they do it. (And by the way, ever notice which conversation is often the shortest -- the one between the head coaches, the two adults, who often go in for the obligatory handshake without breaking stride.)
You don't have to like Josh Rosen, but you probably shouldn't bury him because he didn't shake anyone's hand in the moments following what might've been the greatest athletic disappointment of his life.

And not that he wore a "F--- Trump" baseball cap while playing golf on Trump's golf course. I called him a punk because of the poor sportsmanship he showed Saturday. Tough loss? So what? Frustrated? So what? After a loss, you do the same thing you do when you when you win--shake hands with your opponent. There's no justifying what he didn't do.
It's not just Rosen, either. After Stanford defeated U$C in '07 and '09, I noticed how the entire SC team ran off of the field without acknowledging the Stanford players. Complete lack of class. I found it disgusting.

The reality is Rosen is an elite QB who is probably trying to do too much to help his team win, because the guys he plays with aren't up to his level. Imagine if he had a great OL who afforded him great pass protection, and had a productive, reliable running game. Imagine if he had an elite WR corps. Imagine if his team's defense was a lock down unit.
If you were as talented as Rosen and just got your ass handed to you in a game you threw 60 times, by a team that just notched its 10th consecutive victory against your team, you'd probably want to go hide too. And you might be even more likely to do it because you were still bothered by the fact that school didn't offer you a scholarship.
None of this makes Rosen a bad guy, and it doesn't make Shaw look prophetic for not offering him a scholarship either. Sometimes, things just happen and there is no sinister reason that they do.

And really folks, how would you feel if you were All World in a given sport (top-rated recruit in the nation at your position); excelled in high school (4.0+ average); had a sibling at Stanford; made it known that Stanford was where you wanted to go; and then have the coach of your sport say 'we don't want you, you're too arrogant!"Â [And Shaw has made it public, per a recent interview of Dave Flemming on KNBR].

Are you freaking kidding me? Who is the adult and who is the petulant child? I'd be pissed if I were Rosen (or a family member of his).
Coach Shaw has every right to extend offers to whomever he believes will help the team, and refrain from extending offers for same reasons. But why trash a kid you don't offer?
P.S. Some folks think if Jameis Winston (who Shaw offered and was admitted) came to Stanford he wouldn't have had the behavioral issues he did at FSU, given the environment on The Farm. Does the same not hold for Rosen (whose conduct, btw, is nowhere near as low as that of Winston).
