+1000. I don't even participate in our weekly predict the score game because I'm sufficiently fearful of jinxing things and pissing off the woofing gods. That's admittedly extreme, but I strongly believe in not counting our touchdowns before they hatch.

Gosh, BC, I hope you're being at least a little facetious.  Predicting a blowout, which I and many others did, was not the least bit foolish, which could be inferred from your comment.  I agree w/ the concern about musing presumptuously about how we should manage our overwhelming lead.  It certainly ignores the power of the woofing gods. In truth, though, there are those among us who are atheists, at least in that regard.

To be fair, it most likely could have been a 10 point victory if it had been in our interest at the end to score points rather than to kill clock.

Give credit where it's due. Kal came out with an effective defensive game plan, Love's ankle is worse than we were led to believe, and with a bye week they were fresh & fired up. Played their second-best game of the season, and we still kept The Axe. And yes, we could've scored on that last drive.

I hope this serves as a warning that Wilcox is going to build a stronger program than we have seen over the last decade. Whether they get to Stanford's level is still much in doubt, but Big Game is going to be tougher going forward.

I think you are correct that Wilcox and his staff are a big upgrade from the previous staff. For one thing, they seem to be willing to take what they have and make something from it, rather than just saying "Bear raid or nothing". Laird would never have seen the field under Yikes (and probably not under Wilcox if there were not so many injuries. The Bears got "lucky".). They also try to play defense, which will help them a lot  :). That said, it is one year. The Cal program has shown the ability to blow up when you least expect it. It also has shown a tendency to get "stuck" at just below good. Wilcox clearly has ambitions, and I don't see him as a "Cal forever" guy. He is in a new coach in the honeymoon period where both the fans and the players don't expect much. That will be progressively less true as time goes on.

Agree with Goose . . . Wilcox is not a "Cal" guy.  Thus, if he shows continued progress next year could actually become a hiring target for other schools.  So tough to see him leading Cal to any extended period of ascendancy.
