Sherman and Bryant are both going to be released. There is no basis for a trade because the impetus for their releases is that their contracts outweigh their production at this point, so it's very unlikely that a team would trade for either player.

No doubt - I love Sherman and he has had a great career and will be a hall for famer some day, but I was referring to present/future performance, which is not in line with his current contract, hence his probable release. Not to mention the uncertainty associated with returning form an achilles injury.

If Sherman's achilles injury compromises him to the point that he doesn't even approach his previous level of performance then the HoF will be tough since longevity is a major factor, but his career to date certainly is HoF caliber. He has been first team all-NFL three times. Compare to the pure cornerbacks currently in the hall:

I've always felt, as a tiebreaker, that players who subjectively defined an era in their sports should be let in to the hall of fame. (It's hall of *fame* for a reason, IMO.) Sherman is such a notable personality that I feel it would be cheating posterity not to let him in, even if he accomplishes little of note in the future.
