Co-instructed by Stanford professors Blakey Vermeule and Susan Stephens, a new massive open online course examines the history of sports at American universities and fosters thoughtful debates over the issue of payment for student athletes and other controversial topics.

In 1981, I took formal logic at Stanford.  It was self paced and 100% computer taught.  However, we had to go to a room on campus that was filled with computer terminals and login to our account to progress through the lessons.  You had to pass a quiz after each lesson to move forward to the next.  This was pre-internet and quite cutting edge.

I also took that class, martyup, although I think it was a year later. Philosophy 57? A classmate claimed the second floor computer lab was locked in the dead of night and he and some friends took a bike rack and leaned it against the building, used it as a ladder and climbed through the window. Probably apocryphal (and maybe for a different class?), but good times were had in any case.

I took that course maybe the year after Papa John. Rode my bike from Roble at all sorts of nighttime hours. Later learned that you could just string together a bunch of equations and type TAUT and correctly answer many problems...
