Since our game, he has had a drop off. He struggled a bit in a win over UW, which may be mostly due to a good UW secondary. Then he had a poor game and atrocious first half vs WSU, and rather a disaster of a game in a loss vs Arizona (which isn't exactly a defensive juggernaut). 

We broke him.

He completed 90% of his passes (in regulation). If that qualifies as breaking him then I'd rather we fixed him.

He did get injured against Oregon St but no explanation for the in-between. Maybe he was already somewhat injured and the Oregon St hit was more than he could take.

But statistically, it doesn't happen.

A remarkably high percentage of college QBs decline in their second year, and a remarkably low percentage improve significantly.  A notable nearby example of decline--or at least utter lack of progress--is Jake Browning.

I may have a large compilation of stats on this.  I've watched it carefully.  

Costello has a talent but some very rough edges.  He's posting terrific numbers, likely helped by the most underrated coaches on our staff.  Exactly why some Stanford fans think Pritchard is not a good coach, must less the very good he is, baffles me.

In 2018, 13 qbs were drafted, including five in round one (none in round two): Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen and Jackson.
