I heard from ESPN that the Dolphins are working out Trent Edwards and Brodie Croyle after Chad Henne separated his non-throwing shoulder this last weekend.  I'm still surprised that the Raiders cut Edwards (yeah, how're those Jason Campbell INTs working out for you, Al?), and I'm still puzzled that Edwards couldn't do for Buffalo what Fitzpatrick is doing.  Lots of extenuating factors...oh well.

Has any NCAA prospect had more expectation riding on his shoulders than Luck? Given the possibility of him coming out last year, Luck's name has been the equivalent of savior to millions and millions of NFL fans for two seasons now. I think he's probably the most sure thing at QB since Peyton, but even then people debated if Ryan Leaf was a better pick. Point being nobody's a sure thing, and I think it's much more likely that Luck turns out to be a very good quarterback in the NFL, a la Drew Bledsoe or Jim Kelly, rather than a great one like Marino or Elway.

Vikings, Dolphins, and Colts are early front-runners.  Jags, Chiefs, and Seahawks also in the mix.  (I left out teams who already have 'franchise' QBs.)  Cardinals and Broncos have serviceable QBs but probably wouldn't turn down an actual franchise QB if they had the chance.  Philly, St. Louis, and Carolina probably already have their QB situation set.

I remember when he was a Stanford.  He was destroyed by defensive players on almost every series.  I would marvel at his ability to get up and stumble to the huddle for the next play.  I think those Bill fans that are pointing to one event, probably never saw him play at Stanford.  :-\

Sadly for him, most of the bad teams need a back-up with relatively little game wear and tear so that they can absorb a lot of punishment in a game that almost certainly was out of reach before they jumped on the field.  That probably does not describe Trent Edwards at this point.

Trent was good at running away from would-be sackers and gaining yardage, I remember.  He did take a bunch of hits in his Stanford years though...

I remember posting here when Trent was drafted that he had tremendous physical tools, but that the beating he took behind our terrible o-line would guarantee that he would never be a good NFL quarterback because his internal clock was a second or two fast. Here at Stanford he had about 1.5 seconds to get the ball out or get out of the pocket, limiting his ability to make downfield throws.

Stanford is just fortunate that Trent Edwards' parents didn't sue the university for child endangerment/abuse.  What Trent went through at Stanford was just brutal, and a lot of that was poor coaching. 

Hope Trent gets to live the NFL dream a big longer.
