Amazon just acquired eero and is offering $100 off on eero mesh systems today.

I've been considering this for a while and am curious if Cardboarders have any experiences/reviews they'd like to share.  I have a small home with 2 dead spots.

So, Google vs Amazon -- any good/bad experiences or recommendations?

I also have the usual array of wi-fi gadgets -- 3 Echo, 2 Firestick, 2 Chromecasts, a Ring doorbell.  I already have a 2.4/5GHz modem/router from my ISP with about 200MB download speed.  Also a 4-yr old Apple Airport router that provides two other networks if I need them.  As an aside, I would love to get rid of the ISP modem since I get charged $11/month for it.

I know people who have Google wifi and have said it is great. I also know somebody who works on it, and she says it's great, but that's more biased.  Don't know anybody who's used Eero to compare though, sadly.

So, I'm a very big fan of Ubiquiti networking equipment: https://www.ui.com/

They make professional grade networking equipment, which gives you a ton of control over your network, and without the ickiness factor of not knowing whether Google or Amazon will somehow try to monetize your networking traffic.

They have a new-ish mesh network system called Amplifi: https://amplifi.com/

I can't vouch for Amplifi as I have the non-mesh Unifi system (my house had been wired with Cat-5 cable, so each AP is wired directly to the non-wireless router).  However, Unifi has been just about perfect, except for the slightly more complex than average set-up.

and they said this about Ubiquiti:

Long story short: If you can run Ethernet cables and use standard access points instead of a mesh kit, you should consider it.

They did not like the Amplifi system, however.

I have Comcast interwebs and just bought their XFi pods for a lot less than google or amazon ($119 for 3 pods). Installation was very simple and the improvement in Wi-Fi signal strength throughout the house is significant.

I have a ~1500 square foot home, AT&T Fiber and 3 Google WiFi devices set up. I've somewhat buried the fiber entry point towards the front of my home in a lower closed cabinet. That being said, the Google devices work very well but they're actually unable to push the Fiber speed throughout the house. It's my understanding that Fiber is essentially too fast for Google WiFi.
