As you know, the University of Colorado football team has had six losing seasons in a row. The players have not won a road game in almost five years. They have lost 18 in a row. The program has developed a national reputation as a loser, and for players ending up in prison: numerous rapes, drug sales, vandalism, assault, home invasion robbery. etc.
Out of desperation, the AD fired their head coach in the middle of the season. The new hire, Jon Embree, had never even been hired as a coordinator, and it's becoming obvious why to informed observers.
Their #2 receiver, Toney Clemons, should certainly have been switched to CB during spring practice. He has problems catching the ball, but has the size and speed to keep up with Pac-12 receivers. One critical decision that led to Stanford's amazing year (12-1, #4 AP, Orange Bowl Champion) was star wide receiver, Richard Sherman, switching to cornerback. Sherman turned in a strong performance and was chosen in the NFL draft. And Harbaugh signed a $30 Million contract to coach the San Francisco 49ers. None of that would have happened without that decision. Sadly, Boulder's Jon Embree forgot to make the same move. And it's looking like their current crop of cornerbacks will be gravely outclassed by the receivers in the new conference.
The players CU has been trotting out at corner after serious injuries to the projected starters (Travis Sandersfeld, Paul Vigo, Arthur Jaffee, etc.) can't even cover the true freshmen on CU's own team. It's going to be shooting fish in a barrell for Luck/Owusu, Barkley/Woods, Folles/Criner, etc. This serious technical error by Jon Embree will result in another losing season. Hopefully, they will find a way to win one game.
The Boulder press is in full honeymoon with Jon Embree, but that may end as people start to question why he didn't make the same move Harbaugh did.
