I mean, a well executed draw when the defense is expecting us to pass and drops back into coverage or tries to blitz the QB leaving the middle of the defense open could be devastating.  I think the issue is that when Buddy ran it, we didn’t have the offensive line who could block for it, a running back who could run it, or a passing game that could force the opponents D to over pursue. Plus we ran a draw in running situations. So no one was fooled, and it was unsurprising when it didn’t work.

An occasional shotgun draw wouldn’t cause me to lose faith in Shaw.

A brobdingnagian factor that (unless i have missed it) has been overlooked, is Mills keeping the ball on read options for brobdingnagian gains two times early in the game.  Those plays forced UW defenders to stay home--no crashing from the backside end and catching Scarlett from behind like we have seen so often in recent years.  Scarlett and the OL had two fewer defenders to account for, and the results were obvious.

I wasn’t at the game and am curious to know if the “fired up crowd” knew when to quiet down. I remember Elway trying to get us to quiet down when we had 3rd and short on more than one occasion, thus adding to the myth the typical fan back then didn’t really know football. :(

Yes, we quieted down. I sit far from the student section, so I can't really speak for them, though.

Of course the folks in purple were noisy on our 3rd downs -- until they got discouraged and started leaving early.

They're now selling $10 tickets for the UCLA game. Lol.

While there were large gaps between fans in the upper deck, particularly in the corner sections,  the atmosphere for the UW game was pretty darn good.  Great way to spend a summer evening!

Unlike the Northwestern game which was pure torture for all but hardcore fans.  (Read-Pure torture for Mrs Lefty.)  THAT experience was a horrible advertisement for Stanford football.  Rumor is Kim Jong Un is studying it for use in his reeducation camps for political dissidents, folks suggesting Dennis Rodman has too many tattoos, and toddlers caught cheering off-beat at regime rallies.
