Thanks for the kind words, MC. Yeah, it was tough to give up the homerun ball, but I like to think that I inspired some kid to play baseball for the Cardinal before he goes on to his steroid-induced major league career. As much as I hate to admit it, with each passing year, I feel my chances of getting drafted in the major leagues getting smaller and smaller. I feel the same about my chances of winning the 100m dash in the Olympics.
Anyway, I got to the Fullerton regional on Friday at the top of the 7th inning, just in time for the walk-fest. I hate sitting down/turning on the TV just as we start doing poorly--it makes me feel like I\'m the jinx.
Anyway, we all know the unfortunate results of the regional. That was a bummer. But just for nostalgia, I revisited the area from where I watched the game two years ago (btw, sorry the pix are so brobdingnagian--i have no idea why despite shrinking their size in photobucket, they\'re displaying so large on The CardBoard:
The view from the outfield fence along the first base line is the same:
The peephole in the outfield fence six inches above the ground is still there:
Unfortunately, they strung a banner over the peephole, so the only way to see anything is through the peephole-within-the-peephole:
The view from the tree\'s still good though:
All the same, I was glad I had a seat this time...
