Gardiner may have some similar motivations to turning Cardinal:
rejoining her USA teammates (Betts and Rice) and
staying in the conference so her friends and family can see her in her home state (Utah) each season.
And man, Tara's teams are getting taller and longer by the year.

Wow, is she really 6-7? Looking at the family photo in her tweet, her dad must be about 7-1!

Now, if Kiki Rice commits we would really be set. We are going to have the best posts in the game for years to come, we need to reload our guards. 2021 brings us Harriel and Bosgana, who I don't really know a lot about. Bosgana is a foreign player who was not ranked, Harriel is the #14 PG in her class. Van Gytenbeek showed us some stuff last game, and we have seen little of Nnopu so far.
Perhaps once Williams and Wilson graduate, it will be time to bring back the triangle?

You've touched on why I think we may want and need Londyn Jones, even with Rice, unless Tara sees Demetre as a guard. Bosgana plays more like a wing and hasn't shown an outside touch; she's a slasher.

Been texting talking with friends but what an awesome development to wake up to. I think I heard a hint on recruiting from Tara on the zoom last night then I thought nah wishful thinking. Sure hope I get to see travel basketball this spring summer

By the way, if I am reading the HoopGurlz site correctly, there are now 4 top-10 players committed; three are coming to the Pac-12 (Betts, #9 Aaliyah Gayles to USC, and #10 Raegan Beers to OSU).

If twitter likes mean anything, our toughest competitor for Gardiner will be Oregon State and UCLA. Most of her likes are related to Oregon State. Her AAU coach is Natalie Williams, who will of course veer her to UCLA.
As talented as Gardiner is, she’s probably more of a luxury than a necessity with Iriafen, Demetre, Brink, and Betts. Gardiner can play three through five, but four is probably her best position. She plays the three for high school because two of her teammates are taller than her and also top-75 players.
Mendelson is one of her teammates, I think she is top-10 (chime in if I’m wrong here, BobK!) in volleyball and top-25 in hoops.
Stanford definitely has a great shot at getting the #1 class in 2022.

I think this makes the three-point shooters even more important for us. Demetre, Bosgana and to a lesser extent Harriel look more like slashers than shooters to me. They should all be sure they shoot at least 500 threes every day and Iriafen might as well do the same. Betts will change how we run our offense to some extent and open up a lot of opportunities for perimeter shooters and slashers.
