Yes, there were some holes blown open in our lines that were not filled by linebackers. I saw folks explaining this was due to our attacking scheme and partially agree. (And those who commented know way more about defensive backfield play than I do.)
Still, Saturday saw the occasional play where UW's blocking scheme execution looked just as it does on an O-Line blocking assignment chart. Picture perfect - Too picture perfect, with all the X's sealing the O's and all the lanes open as planned. It's hard to imagine Skov or Howell getting moved out of the way by single team blocks or missing some of those tackles.
I look forward to seeing our back-ups get meaningful reps and improving but I'm also looking forward to watching Howell blow-up a runner so he doesn't hit the gap quite so hard the next time through!
