"The Guardian Cap is the leading soft-shell helmet cover engineered for impact reduction. It brings padded, soft-shell technology to the outside of the decades old hard-shell football helmet and reduces impact up to 33%."
"Guardian Caps are currently utilized by 200+ colleges, 1500+ high schools, and 500+ youth programs to reduce impact during practice. As of 2020, NFL testing validates the benefit of Guardian Caps and the NFL and NFLPA have decided to permit the Guardian Cap to be used by lineman in NFL practices."

You can see photos of the caps in use by a bunch of other college teams like FSU, Clemson, Penn St, Texas, Michigan St, and Oklahoma St.

Easy answer. My daughter is a budding water polo goalie and had her first concussion from a ball to the head about five months ago. She refuses to wear any protective gear in practice cause it makes her look dopey.
