Wally was the coach who built Stanford Men's Golf. Won our first championship in 40+ years under his leadership. He not only recruited Tiger Woods, but several others including current head coach Conrad Ray and Notah Begay III.
I knew Wally before he came to Stanford. I was in HS when he was the head coach at Northwestern and took lessons from him. We then reconnected when he came to Stanford.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a better human being. I will miss him.
