As we know, the injury situation with this team is getting ridiculous. I have two modest proposals, either of which I hope the coaching staff quickly adopts for the continued success of the team.

#1:

Let's say, magically--as if from the mist--David Shaw happens to find a bunch of freshmen on campus who can play. "Mitch Herman", CB, and perhaps a dash of S. "Dirk Ball," RT. "Douglas Braldwin," WR. And so on.

#2:

It's come to my attention that the Alabama Crimson Tide cannot kick a field goal. Fortunately, with the health of Jordan Williamson, we find ourselves with two kickers better than either of Alabama's. THEREFORE: a trade. We loan them our kicker for the remainder of the season, they give us one of those spare safeties and/or wideouts they've got lying around. Mutually beneficial! They'll barely even have to change colors.

I mean, what should we do otherwise--cross our fingers and toes?

In 2009, Stanford beat Oregon at Stanford Stadium.  Oregon is a lot less impressive away from Eugene, and the Stanford team has been doing alright at home.  This Oregon team is not as good as that 2009 team.  And Stanford 2011 is a whole lot better, even with a few injuries.  Power runs, dinks to the healthy TEs & RBs, and all will be fine.

Just remember to make some noise when the Ducks have the ball.

I think we can win this game, but I also think the people who are suggesting this is going to be a fairly easy victory are smoking something.

This is going to be a dogfight, just like the U$C game was. We're going to need some breaks (just like we got with the T.rojans) to win it.

Who thinks it will be easy??  :o

For those that watched Oregon and UW, there is little doubt that Oregon has some issues.  The O is great, but not quite as dominating as in some recent years.  The real difference is the D.  Their 2 deep on D is not unbeatable this year.  And that is important because they play so fast on offense that they play 2 deep on D.  I personally like the idea that their 2 deep has demonstrated some ability to get tired and is not super physical.

The game is at Stanford Stadium.  Same rule applies to Stanford that has applied to others in the top 10.  If Stanford can't win this game at home, Stanford does not deserve to be Pac-12 champs.  Many teams play a lot better at home.  I sure hope that is the case with Stanford because the last two weeks have been less than impressive.  Still the common opponents suggest that Stanford might be a touch stronger.

The two teams are beating teams handily, but Stanford has done a touch better against a few common opponents from the Pac-12 North.  And more importantly those two Pac-12 North teams were the last two opponents for Oregon.  So as concerning as the last two weeks have been for Stanford, Oregon has not exactly been trouble free.
