Showers, with a 50% chance. I think this weather might equalize itself regarding both teams. Makes it hard to cut up field, easier to fumble, and more prone to dropped passes. However, I think Oregon's speed will slightly suffer, due to the inclement weather, but usually the best team finds a way to win.

Hopefully Stanford is taking full advantage of playing on its home field. That means raising the blade on the mower and not putting a tarp on the field if it does in fact rain this week.

As I read in the paper....This game could be played in "fat guys weather". That is fine by me. I will happily sit in the rain if it gives Stanford's Power a bit on an edge.Â

You guys obviously know more than I do. My logic would have been, "Oregon knows cold and rain like the back of its cold,rain-soaked hand," and that it would benefit them.

But Oregon does play on a turf field, and would not be used to the natural grass on a rainy day.

That would be the logic I would use if I was a Duck fan. >:(
My bigger worry is that Stanford "fans" will not show up to a game in the rain, or worse sell their tickets to the highest bidder. And in the case of bad weather that would almost certainly mean a Duck fan.

I think you guys are really underestimating the fans. This is the biggest game in Stanford football history. If it was -20 you go buy warn clothes and get your ass out to support your team!Â

May the mud suck the speed from Oregon's legs. The only question is whether a rain-coated ball causes the underthrown passes, etc. that plagued Luck against Oregon St., assuming the rain was a factor. The flipside? Jukes and spins tend to favor the offense in mud.

Bad weather favors the underdog, because it introduces more variance into the outcome of a game. So you gotta ask yourself one question, is Stanford or Oregon the underdog in this game?

Stanford is the favorite. A 3 point favorite to be precise. But since Stanford is at home, that implies the teams are more or less equals. An assessment I suspect is accurate. However, the Ducks are all about spin moves and crisp cuts. In college a quick slip and the runner is down. So the rain favors Stanford's game. The rain is Oregon's climate. The rain probably will quiet Stanford's generally quiet crowd.
I like the idea of Stanford playing on a wet surface, but on a clear night for Luck's throws. And that could happen.
