I was way off in my prediction. Originally I predicted 6-6, then 4-8, now it looks as if 3-9 will be how it winds up. Pathetic. The level of futility I saw out there yesterday was on a par with what I recall of the days of Buddy and Wlat. Shaw's playcalling was truly dismal. And, pace Shaw, I wouldn't call it "aggressive"; it was stupid. Even Scott Reiss on the radio broadcast said just before 3rd down from the 3, that if Shaw was going to run on 4th, he had to run and pick up a yard or two on 3rd. But he didn't and then compounded the farce by calling a sneak from the 3 on 4th down. Yikes!
By the way, while I like Tanner McKee, I must say that his side-armed delivery is SUSPECT. He threw at least one side-armed INT yesterday. And the first INT he threw was very surprising to me. He didn't lead the receiver going left to right, so he had to slow down, giving the defender time to come in and intercept the ball, with ease. I was quite shocked at that play. On the side-armed INT, he threw a ball too far ahead of the receiver and the defender had no problem intercepting it.
Compare McKee's mechanics with those of Alabama AB Bryce Young. He throws a beautiful ball with an overhead release, either a bullet or a floater, as needed. I don't see McKee right now as has having the ability to drop balls in over defenders between him and his receivers. How can that be with a guru such as "Coach Pritchard" there to instruct him in the fine art of QBing?
