As I thought, Haley Jones gets the P12 POY. Her only competition must have been Brink as discussed in the other thread.
Could have gone to either one, but I think coaches think more about how to defend Jones than any other player because of her versatility. This may have been given her the advantage over Cam.

I thought it was great to see that we snagged 3 of the 5 positions on the all-defensive team, but am I the only one who thought Anna was more deserving as the defensive POY than Cam? A big part of being a shut-down defender of an opponent's top scorer is staying out of foul trouble so you can be on the court to do your thing defensively. For Cam, fouls continue to be a problem and for every time Anna got into foul trouble, Cam did so approximately ten times as often. Cam finished the season fouling twice as often on a per-minute basis as Anna and was. Largely as a result of foul trouble, Cam end up playing 17% fewer minutes than Cam, even though she started 9 more games than Anna.
You could also have given this award to Lexie based on her help defense and amazing double-teaming skills too.
A superb defensive team. To repeat as national champions, I think Cam will have to continue to elevate her defensive game against bigger and stronger players. Fingers crossed.

That's is how dominant this team was in the Pac-12.

Yes! This would have been perfect. Other teams couldn't complain since both awards landed with Stanford players anyway. All four are deserving.

I don't care too much about individual awards - too hard to do them right because players who are allowed to kind of hog the ball/the stats/the playing time tend to get more love than players who are maybe more efficient but don't stand out as much because they are on a better team and don't get to play hero ball as much. That said, I am glad our players got them, and congrats to all the winners - Jones, Brink, Lexie Hull, Wilson, and Iriafen. Congrats to Tara too, of course, for her COY.

I also like to watch how star frosh do when they go around the conference again in their soph year. Some turn out to be starts. I can also see one for Kneepkins (whose name I am sure I just mangled) since she scored fewer points but was more efficient than curry and she also was a big reason her team improved so much.

Last night's Cal vs Utah game was also a contest between the two Freshmen of the year (Curry / Media poll) and Kneepkins (Coaches poll). Seems to me that Kneepkins was the clear winner on that one. Looking forward to seeing how she does against WSU tonight. I'd love to see both WSU and Utah make the NCAA tournament and do well.
Last night's Cal vs Utah game was also a contest between the two Freshmen of the year (Curry / Media poll) and Kneepkins (Coaches poll). Seems to me that Kneepkins was the clear winner on that one. Looking forward to seeing how she does against WSU tonight. I'd love to see both WSU and Utah make the NCAA tournament and do well.

I was surprised at first that Kneepkens was picked over Curry of Cal, but someone on the Cal board, which I do not post in but look at occasionally, posted that Curry's P-12 stats were not very efficient, shooting percentage of about 32%, which is really bad. She was much better against their very weak non-conference schedule.

Frankly, I thought freshman Jenna Johnson outplayed both of them in the 20 minutes (39 for Curry and 31 for K) she played due to foul trouble.

Curry played too much hero ball yesterday. Maybe that is typical and explains low efficiency throughout the year.
