+1,000. Bumgarner was a terrific pitcher during the regular season. In the postseason, against the best players in the world, he was like something out of a video game. 8-3 with a 2.11 in the postseason, but 4-0 with a 0.25 ERA in the World Series (lowest of any pitcher with at least 25 innings pitched in the World Series) and a 0.528 WHIP. In 2014, Bumgarner's postseason ERA was 1.01, the lowest postseason ERA ever with at least 40 postseason innings pitched. Bum averaged almost eight innings in his six postseason starts, then of course the five innings in relief -- two days after 117 pitches in game 5. It was only the third five-inning save in any professional baseball game, regular or postseason, in the past 25 years. It was more than an inning longer than any save recorded in any World Series. First player to record two wins, a shutout and a save in one World Series.
BTW, Madbum is leading the league in starts this year. He's 3-7, went 7-10 last year and 1-4 the year before that. But his ERA's down to 3.75.
