I'm confused. WTF? First, why not kick the FG? Second, why not throw the flag?

Sure looked like a penalty.
But a few years ago and earlier Shaw would have NEVER gone for it in that situation.

Well, we assume he thought they could get the 2 yards. However, why he thought that I'm not sure. We're only averaging 2.2 yards per rush.

From that TV view it really looked like the ball started out heading wide right, then curved back left to split the uprights. I really thought it was a miss for a second.

I’m just happy we haven’t lost one of those 4 or 5 times they fumbled the ball. Casey has to hold onto ball.

87 Mayer is a beast. But ND has not shown much offense otherwise. Stanford is pressuring their QB without bringing extra rushers. Herron made a terrific effort to swat the ball out of the QB's hand and force a fumble. Defense's 1st recovered fumble of the year!
