I presume Demetre is the one they practice this with. She's tall so she can look over the top of smaller defenders.
End of regulation, in detail.
2:01
50-43 Lepolo sinks an inside-out, wide open 3ptr.
1:54 UW Timeout
1:49 Ogden is bowled over by UW#14 Daniels, no call.
1:48 UW#14 saves the overpass
1:46 The refs rule the ball touches Lepolo on the way out of bounds
1:39 UW 3FGA. Stanford has 3 rebounders but a bad miss means a long rebound to UW.
1:28 UW pass deep into the lane, Jump & Brink double the player, leaving an unguarded player on the 3pt line
1:26 UW 3FGA, Stanford has 4 rebounders
1:24 Iriafen gets a contested rebound but is sliding on her back and is called for a travel. Shot clock set to 30
1:22 UW inbounds.
1:01 After good Stanford defense, UW makes an unforced TO by throwing the ball to the out-of-bounds.
1:01 Stanford inbounds in the back court to Lepolo under full court pressure.
0:55.9 Lepolo is fouled just as she passes into the forecourt.
0:55.9 Inbounds pass is to a breaking Jump, who had gotten separation. However,
Iriafen, who had broken earlier (and on previous inbounds) was coming back toward the inbounder. Her player intercepts.
0:53 Ogden jumps the UW pass, but the intended receiver pulls Ogden's left arm so she can't control the ball.
0:48 Stanford scrambles to get in position defensively and does so.
0:41.4
50-46 UW #1 is on 3pt line with Brink sloughed off. She gets the ball and hits a 3.
0:41.4 From near half-court, Demetre inbounds to Iriafen (no problem).
0:35.6 Lepolo and
Demetre cause a traffic jam at Iriafen who gets triple teamed, leading to a tie ball. Stanford possession
0:34.2 From near half-court Demetre inbounds (with some difficulty) to Brink near the half court line. Brink tries dribbling out of it (maybe not the best idea) and gets fouled.
0:32.8 From the sidelines, Demetre inbounds to Iriafen (who broke from the elbow) on the sideline. She gets tied up. UW possession.
(Words were spoken, noticeably by Iriafen. Tara comes down barking at Iriafen.)
0:32.8 UW inbounds in the back court - NO pressure by Stanford to slow them down. Indeed, Ogden and Iriafen are the two who are guarding the two bringing the ball down. ??
0:24 UW misses a step-back 3FGA. Brink was pressuring the shooter. No one from either team was in the lane. By the time the shoot comes down, 3 Stanford and 2 UW players are in the key.
0:22.7 Jump's player gets the rebound and Jump is whistled for a foul. Washington is in the bonus, so she gets FTA
0:22.7
50-47 Second FT was made. Stanford Timeout
0:22.7 From the sidelines, Demetre inbounds easily to Brink, who is fouled. Rather than hugging the ball waiting for a foul, she could have thrown it to a wide open Jump (not for a shot, but to use clock)
0:21.3 From the sidelines, Demetre has trouble inbounding. Brink was open briefly, but Demetre was looking for Iriafen who wasn't open until she reversed, but a throw to her wouldn't work because of the defender on Demetre. She makes a lob pass to Lepolo who is guarded. The ball is tipped and UW gets to it.
0:15.5
50-50 A banked 3 pointer goes in.
0:15.5 Inbounding from the sideline, Demetre gets it to Lepolo near the sideline. Lepolo makes no improvement of position as Stanford has no one on the right half of the court. Pass to Iriafen on the right elbow with 3.4 seconds left. Iriafen gets a clean shot off. We crash 3 rebounders but UW got the rebound as time ended. Washington did have a timeout left, so an earlier shot might have let them call a timeout.
I saw no real issue on Demeter's inbounding, except maybe the lob should have been deeper (not to Lepolo but over her). There were some issues in players being unable to get open (for instance, Iriafen was guarded by a smaller, faster player). The traffic jam that led to a tie ball was questionable but that was after the inbounds. Against smaller players, maybe Brink can hold the ball over her head rather than hugging it, which then allows her to pass it.
UW hustled and benefited from long rebounds, but Stanford was in position. Stanford seemed to expect UW to foul and never got into an offense - only one shot in two minutes.
Stanford seemed to expect UW to foul, and therefore had almost no offense in the last 2 minutes
