As exhilarating a fabulous win this was,
I’m reminded that a 3 legged table is a risky table. Take one leg away, due to injury, foul trouble, or just off night, and the table falls.
Adding other really strong legs (Demetre, guard shooting, bench) would make the table so much more enduring that you take one leg away & it still stands

That's fair as far as scoring is concerned, although Tara makes it clear that there is a lot more to choosing which five to put on the floor than only their scoring.  But ideally I think we all would like to see more balanced scoring from all five starters.

What I hope is that it is not the same three scorers every single game, but that there will be variation depending upon the weaknesses of the opposing defense.

But we will eventually face teams with a better inside presence, or who play zone and pack the paint, denying Brink and Iriafen the chance to get the ball inside or do much with it when they do.  Such teams will become more vulnerable to leaving our players open on the perimeter and in those games we will need several three point shooters to light it up.  In those games I would expect not only Jump but also Demetre, Bosgana, Ogden, Harriel, Lepolo, and even Brink to be shooting and making more threes.  

What I think is outstanding is that Jump was able to go 5/10 from three point range against a top perimeter defense.  Some of those shots were barely open and if her release were any slower she would not have made them.  She would not have been that effective last year.  But our other three point shooters have not shown they can get open or shoot accurately against that level of defense.  They will become more open when other teams sell out to stop Brink and Iriafen.

Our versatility will help us win a lot of games, but on any given night we are going to take what the defense gives us.  At least, I hope we do ;)

Thank you! I’ve read time and time again how Stanford cannot get the ball over when pressed and for a long time it was true. Actually many of those Stanford teams would have lost the game. But I did not see any panic in this team and although there was quite a bit of turnovers, it wasn’t due to the press. I think this team can still and will still get better but winning these types of games bodes well!

She could very well talk to Steph about it but it might also be something they don't discuss during the streak.  Also, Pau Gasol is her free throw coach.  He was at the game with her parents and after the game she gave him a victory ball and a big hug.  Given her previous struggles from the line, we should hire Gasol to work with the entire team to whatever extent that is allowed.

I’ve had a couple of similar experiences with Flo Hoops. IIRC they once missed the whole first quarter of a game (WBB I believe).  They must pay a hell of a lot to organizers of these tournaments (add “” as you deem appropriate.)

What I'd hope for is better efficiency.
So far, Cam, Kiki, Nunu, Elena, and Hannah are putting up impressive efficiencies. They're killing it.
Most of the others are not so much.
So hoping for the others to catch up their teammates setting the high standard.
This would make the whole team so much harder to defend than even it is now.

My prediction would be Ogden. She has the golden shot and the size and the athleticism. Further, she will have to get a lot more playing time or she won’t be here next year . But beyond that, she has the talent . It just seems like it’s taking her a while to adapt to the game. Maybe defense issues; I haven’t seen enough to judge.

My bet though , is that she is an 8-10 points per game ,three rebounds , 15 minute kind of player by year end .

It’s also a question of what offense we run. If I were   coaching, in addition to losing a lot of games, I would be inclined to ride Kiki and Cameron as far as I could .. Problem is that won’t get to the final four. If we wind up with two great posts , one excellent three point shooter and two ball handler/ defensive players we will wind up like last year .

A determined sag and chase Hannah will get us back in the 50 point range . I’m hoping we roll,the dice a bit and develop one more serious offensive threat.   Might be Demetre. I’d love that because she is a team player and has the rebounding a defensive skills we need. But if she can’t get her offense up to 8 to 10 points a game , we have to roll the dice with Basagna or Ogden.

What I don’t  believe we can do, is roll with only three scorers. ( granted, that’s one more than last year but it still isn’t enough to go all the way.)

As far as I can recall, the only time[s] I have ever had a FloHoops/FloSports subscription was to watch one of those Stanford WBB holiday tourneys [in 2021, IIRC].  I'm a little surprised that no one else had mentioned this lawsuit.  Did no one else receive this Notice?

NCAA stats has Brink and Stanford as 2nd in FT%. (Individual leader is 25/25 while Brink is 24/24)  She is also T2 in blocks

IMO, Brink has been so good that even brushing the inside of the front rim is a miss. Amazing.

Yes, she has been amazing at the FT line.  The really great free throw shooters I remember in the past have all been guards, except for Nicole Powell.  It is pretty rare I think for a tall forward to go on such a tear.

I sure hope she can break the record because it will be heart breaking if she misses one now that she is so close.

I feel precisely the same. Earlier in the streak, I was relaxed, just seeing her free throws go swish. But now . . . , I'm totally stressed out each time she steps to the line. If I feel this way, how is she feeling? She has to be feeling imense pressure. Wonder if she's talking to Steph about it?!

Good news and bad news..mostly bad, we won’t agonize much because we won’t see the .Belmont game in which Brink will either break the record or not. It is only on Flo Hoops. I tried a trial subscription a few years back and spent untold hours trying to end my subscription.  Won’t do that again, 

So I’ll try and listen. Harder to help Brink with body English without a visual.  I do wish, however, that .Stanford fans had the chance to watch her go for and break the record.

Actually disappointed that in the televised post-game interview, they asked Brink about the free throw record.  "You're only 3 away____".  If that's not pressure, I can't fathom how Cam deals with it between now and game time on Wednesday.  I will be at the tourney cheering the team on and I won't think about the streak until she steps on the line.  Honestly, I think it's a lot easier to watch this in-person than on a video stream or radio.
Whether she gets the record or not, what a performance from our All-American.

A dream come true for any player to be discussed in the same sentence as Rick Barry!  But Barry wasn't a tall/power forward.  He played small forward and became the ultimate point forward.  In the old lingo, he was the classic swingman.  In today's game, he would just be a guard who could play all over the court.   I hope Cam keeps playing great so we get more comparisons to the all time greats.

IMO, a FT streak is a pretty low value thing to track. Guarantee none of us knew who held the record before Cam got close. I still don't know, nor do I really care. Some records (like career scoring nationally or team) are indicators of long successful careers and thus have more of a place in history. FT streak, not so much. 

It would be fun if Cam got the record, but I won't be upset if she misses and I really hope that she won't be either. My guess is that Cam doesn't care a whole ton, but pressure on her is building because it's in the press and people ask about it. What I really hope is that it ends soon so that Cam can just eliminate it from any game concern. Individual things like this can become a distraction if they get big enough. My ideal scenario is that she breaks the record, then misses one immediately after so she and the team can put it behind her. Worst scenario is that SportsCenter starts covering it. "The Cameron Brink FT watch".
