Brink got her second foul early in the 2nd and so is sitting again. Most of the first half we have been playing without her.

Meh defense and missing wide open threes. Not a lot of energy. And the refs are letting our posts get mugged.

Oh geez. I recall in the Duke game Brink dribbled the length of the court in the second half and under the basket ran smack into the defender. It was an obvious, blatant foul and I believe she already had three fouls. I hope Brink learns early in the season her presence on the court is the highest priority.

Team seems slow on defense and tight shooting. Jump and Lepolo are 0-10 from the field and 0-9 on some wide open threes.
Well, that first half was much too close. Brink sitting on the bench for 14 of the 20 minutes is largely responsible, along with Jump going 0/6. Giving up 31 points was not great but is not exactly a defensive melt down--our problem was more on offense. Lepolo going 0/3 was also painful. When they don't have to respect Lepolo OR Jump they can pack the paint and make it more difficult for Iriafen inside.
Otherwise we are doing pretty well statistically in all the categories, low turnovers, decent rebounding, etc.
Ogden looked good, 2/4 for 5 points, 3 rebounds, an assist, in 7 minutes. Demetre may be getting her touch back, 2/2 from three point range or the first half would have been even more of a disaster.

Two of the Belmont “and 1” continuation fouls were just not at all continuations. Bad reffing. Foul happens, players stop playing, then the Belmont player flips up a shot well after the whistle has blown and the refs count it.

All you who said we need more than 3 scorers are being vindicated in this game, so far. Two of our big three scorers have been on the bench or ineffective and not enough others have stepped up. Demetre and Ogden show promise, though, and of course we will have Brink back and Jump will probably get her artillery range adjusted. But we do not look dominant.
Belmont is pretty good, which should also count for something.

I noticed that too. Also, they apparently didn't know that Cam was close to the NCAA record for consecutive FTs. They didn't even mention it.

Our shooting from distance is awful - I've never seen Jump miss shots like that. They may be having problems getting used to a different gym. Glad to see Demetre has hit a couple of threes. Bosgana playing well, but missed a couple of shots in the paint.

We have clawed our way back to a 6 point lead, but our shooting percentage is awful and below Belmont's. Three point misses are contagious, as are makes.

We gave up an uncontested layup at the end of the third to let Belmont narrow our lead to 5 points. Prior to that Brink got pummeled trying to go for a basket and nothing was called. One of the same refs we had for Duke letting LOTS of physical contact go, down low.
