2023-2024 Spring Football Roster

Off the roster are Bank, Berzins, Filkins, Gilman, Hawkins, Heyer, Humphreys, Jorgensen, Karty, Lee, Lester, Lowe, Lytle, Merritt, Moi, Nelson, Parson, Patu, Pogorelc, Slocum, Smith, Starr, Joshua Thompson, Terian Williams, and Yurosek.
Slocum and Starr off the roster is new information, at least to me (many of the departed walk-ons are too but that is expected every year). Starr's snap count went from 229 to 120 to 12, a trajectory that mirrored his epic fall from grace as a recruit (going from the #62 recruit in the nation to #1002). He just wasn't much of a player. Seems like a solid guy and I'm glad he got that Stanford education. Helpful to have the spot free up. Slocum was one of our 200+ snap guys in 2021 and 2023, so that is very significant news he's gone. That being said, PFF thought Slocum was the dead last horrendously awful #484 of 484 Power Five DBs. Freeing up that scholarship is addition by subtraction, at least compared to his 2023.
If my count is right I think we are now over-subscribed by one scholarship. It's certainly close and if there are any more transfer additions or walk-ons awarded scholarships that would require more space too. Ungar and Porter (though in his case the departures of Gilman, Slocum, Thompson, and Williams create opportunity to maintain or increase playing time) would seem to be prime candidates to shave to get under the limit. Also possible transfers or medical attrition post-spring solve the problem.
Listing of class years continues to be a joke.
