Stanford has arguably been the best P12 golf team in the NCAA match play era (since 2009). They have been regular qualifiers for the NCAA championship tournament and won in 2019. Only Oregon among other P12 schools has won a championship in the match play era. Joseph Bramlett, Patrick Rodgers, Maverick McNealy, Isaiah Salinda and Brandon Wu have passed through the program and then played professionally. Thorbjornsen, Vilips and Brown will likely follow.
Stanford has been a solid top 25 or top 30 team. But not a consistent top 10 team. Aside from 2019, they have only qualified for match play twice - 2010 and 2014.
I would love to see Stanford at the level of Georgia Tech, Illinois or Vanderbilt, schools that have been consistent top 10 teams and match play participants. But oh, one thing. None of those schools has ever won an NCAA golf championship. I'm all in for Conrad Ray.
