Thanks BC!
I'll actually take some credit for the homecoming victory. Last year I promised a bunch of old friends that we would go this year (it's my 40th reunion not that a specific year matters much), but it made more sense for my wife to have her knee replaced this fall, which she did four weeks ago. So, no cross country flight.
I don't remember Tech winning homecoming my four years there and in the dozen of times I've gone back for that game, maybe they won twice; once en route to a MNC in 1990. For whatever reason they like to schedule teams for homecoming (end of October/early November) that wind up in the top five.
So I watched the game while keeping her ice machine humming. I've never seen her so invested in GT winning a game. I think she still has some of the Cane's 25-point comeback against Cal trauma lingering.
The interesting thing in Brave New World is that while Tech had a fun homecoming victory, students threw two goalposts into the President's pool, and Tech is eligible now for some lower tier bowl, all Miami has to do is win out and they are national champions. Nothing derailed.
It was an impressive victory though. Haynes King can't throw more than 15 yards due to shoulder injury, Miami knocked three running backs out of the game, and Tech deployed two QBs, one a true freshman to sling it, which he did when needed. Fun watching them show Cristobal how to take a knee when the game was mathematically over.
Would have been awesome to have been there, but then they probably lose, so happy to watch from the living room.
