Stanford is favored by 14-1/2 against the Spartans. Stanford is up to #67 in the KenPom ratings. Norfolk, at 197, is rated higher than Stanford's first three opponents, but lower than UC Davis (159). Norfolk comes in with a 4-1 record against opponents rated 175 and lower.
Norfolk has a veteran roster. All of their top 8 players transferred at some point from other four-year schools - 3 are seniors and 5 are grad students. They get 42% of their scoring from a pair of 6'2" guards - Brian Moore (22.4 ppg) and Christian Ings (13.4). Moore has some eye-popping shooting stats - 40/56 (.714) FGs, 8/11 (.727) 3s, and 24/26 (.923) FTs. Other potential starters include apparently slender Kuluel Mading (6'11"/210 lbs), Tyrel Bladen (6'10"/235) and Jaylani Darden (6'5"/175).
Norfolk's team stats look mostly similar to Stanford's - although obviously against lesser competition. Norfolk has given up more 3s per/game and has a much lower rebounding margin (and has been outrebounded in it's past three games when the competition stepped up from Penn St - Wilkes Barre & Virginia - Lynchburg to James Madison, William & Mary, and Hampton).
So in a game Stanford "should" win, maybe they can find some success hitting the boards and hitting some 3s.
