I think he’s made some good hires overall but also oversaw the steep decline of our football problem at the worst possible time with conference realignment. The Jerod Haase experiment was also absolutely dreadful. So major failures in football and basketball. The two most important revenue sports. I’m not sad to see him leave. 

The question now becomes who is next. Stanford needs a home run hire.

Great question - perusing through bios of the current DAPER leadership team, it's pretty much a bunch of newbies who either don't have a lot of strong (D1/Power 5 conference) AD leadership experience &/or who've only been on board the last year or so.  I could be wrong but the only exception I know of is Ray Purpur but IIRC, his area of expertise is facilities-related, not general AD administration.  Bueller? Bueller?.....
