When it gets to this point, I think it is only a matter of time before he leaves. Personally, my feelings are mixed about his leaving (whenever that should be). I have little respect for his program, given the string of criminal behavior that has defined the program over the last few years. And as a football issue, I do think that even with a different high level coach like Peterson, Oregon might be a bit easier to handle. One of the things that was so difficult about Kelly's team is that it is just so different from every other team anyone faces on their schedule that it is really, really difficult to prepare for. So I do think it would be a bit easier to win the North without him at Oregon.
On the other hand, it would be extremely sweet to conquer that mountain. He does set the bar extremely high in the Pac-12, and if you can conquer both Oregon and USC (when they are at the top of their game), I think you automatically find yourself in the National Championship conversation.Â
