This seems, uh, curious. Tennessee's offense was one only Idiotface could love. Iowa State's defensive backs never struck me as anything special. I'm not sure why a safeties coach is the best choice for offensive coordinator. And promoting an intern to coordinate a mediocre special teams is probably a move of blatant disregard for that side of the ball.

Iowa State's DB coach might be a good thing--they did beat Oklahoma State after all.  Safeties coach to offensive coordinator...now that's a head-scratcher.

Personally I think "promoting intern to special teams coordinator" to be craziest. Especially when they had a mediocre special teams unit to begin with. But yeah, a lot of odd moves here.

Ramifications for us: obviously beyond the annual game, if Notre Dame faceplants in 2012, you really wonder whether this might equate to a decisive advantage in all Notre Dame-Stanford recruiting battles for the good guys. What would the appeal be at this point?
