Sherman will always be good in my book for two reasons:  his 70+-yard reception to seal the win against UW in Seattle in the 1-11 season and the fact that, after his last Big Game, he pretty much gave away his entire uniform, including his shoes and [literally] the shirt off his back to, and posed for endless photos with,  kids [including my son] after the game.

The other 3 DBs went to the Pro Bowl last season and chipped in to pay for Sherman to join them in Hawaii. He had a great year and together they are playing great this year. He's playing more bump and run - jamming at the LOS.

I lost some respect for Richard Sherman after reading the article linked in FarmBoy's post.  I've always had the impression that Sherman was both a good player and a good person (and 76lsjumb's post is right in line with my impression).  And I've really enjoyed watching his success in the NFL.  But Sherman's behavior as described in that article is remarkably classless.  I would have expected a lot better from a former Stanford player.

Regardless, my biggest takeaway from that article was that defense has become a verb while I wasn't looking:

I've never seen a player woof more than Sherman when we took it to SC for 55.

He was giving the Fight On salute, talking to the cameras, etc.

It's one thing to be a "talker" during the game.  But talking trash to a player from the losing team as he's walking off the field after the game is over is totally bush league (and tweeting a picture of yourself doing so just makes it worse).

I love verbing nouns, and I wish it was considered grammatically acceptable; it streamlines language and makes it so much more colorful. You can say, "When I type, I hunt and peck with two fingers around the keyboard," or you can say, "When I type, I lobster-claw it." Which one creates a more evocative image?

But you're absolutely right--there's no reason to do so if there already exists a verb with that exact meaning. Doing that is just stupid.
