This is the part that rubs me the wrong way about fans and calls like this. Would it be that hard to just say, "It was a close call, looks like we may have gotten a break there, good game." Might want to try it someday Brian Kelly. Instead, Kelly comes out and says they dominated the line of scrimmage all day so they deserved the win.Â
But perhaps this is how they teach it at Notre Dame. Look at Golden Tate in Seattle after he got the benefit of an egregious call by shoving a defender in the back and hugging a guy who had intercepted the ball -- he ran around the field proclaiming his greatness and how he fought for the play and deserved the win. Um, okay, you cheated and got away with one, try and show a little class.
I bet it wouldn't have mattered because had the officials on the field ruled it good, the replay official probably would have overturned it anyway just like Toilolo's catch.
I personally have not been as ticked off about a call (or series of calls) since Lawrence Hill stuffed Darren Collison cleanly at UCLA a few years back but was called for a bogus foul. Of course there is no replay in basketball, so this is even worse.
Of course, the play didn't guarantee us a win, it would have just sent us to another overtime, but that chance was taken away from our team.
