Oh wow I didn't know about that one! Anybody else notice Stanford's predominance in popular culture lately? Kate Beckett of Castle went to Stanford. As did one of the brothers on Supernatural. There's another current and prominent one I'm forgetting at the moment.

I'm sure garvin will be along shortly to fill us in, but off the top of my head, Sigourney Weaver represents her alma mater in Avatar, with a Stanford shirt.

My favorite is from a war movie I saw as a kid (on TV) and it bugs the hell out of me that I can't think of the name. Anyway...there's a dogfight over Midway, I believe, and the Japanese fighter pilot is talking back and taunting the American pilots on the radio...in perfect English. They ask him (over the radio) how his English could be so good and he replies, "Stanford, '39!"

It wouldn't be Tora! Tora! Tora! since that's about Pearl Harbor. Are you sure it wasn't the movie Midway? It also could have been the TV show Baa Baa Black Sheep. I loved that show when I was a kid.
