Good thread. I've only seen a few OSU games this year, saw a fair amount of their last game against ASU. They look pretty similar to OSU teams of years past on offense, with perhaps less of a dominating running back, and more deep threat at receiver, but it was mostly pro-set offense with a healthy mix of fly sweeps and lateral motion. Those damn fly sweeps have been a persistent thorn in our side, but I think this team will be well equipped to deal with it. My understanding is that their O-Line is a big weakness for them, though I didn't necessarily appreciate that in the limited time I've watched them.

We've got the higher ceiling; they've got the higher floor. Defensively, you have to like our chances--OK in the running game, so-so OL, great wideouts. If we can shut down SC, no reason we can't shut them down too.
Our offense versus their defense is tough. Their secondary is quite good. Some disruptive players on the defensive line. Hogan has to make plays but not give the ball away. The offensive line has to play one of its better games of the season.
I think it'll be something like 21-17, but I haven't decided which team scores what.

Their starting OL is okay. The biggest problem is they have no depth. If they have any OL injuries, they'll fall apart in a hurry.

I haven't felt this way all season, but I think Stanford is going to crush Oregon State. They have not been playing as well since the BYU game in which they put up 42 points with a first time QB. That game more and more looks like an anomaly similar to Arizona scoring 48 on Stanford, the further it gets away.
After sleep walking through Washington State and getting a spark from Hogan to inspire better play at Colorado, Stanford has had time to re-energize its emotional reserves and get up for a brobdingnagian game tomorrow. The crowd might not pack the place, but it seems those there will provide a great deal of support.

I think if we can take care of the football, we should be able to come away with the W. Much has been made of the combination of Wheaton and Cooks, but most media types don't seem to realize this isn't the 2009 Stanford secondary. I'm not too worried about their WRs taking over given that we managed Lee and Woods without too many problems.
Hogan just needs to play his game and make smart decisions. We've seen Josh be so risk-averse when throwing the ball that he started short-arming his passes to wide-open targets. We need to find the happy medium: playing to our strengths but not trying to force it. I want to see Hogan get plenty of chances to get outside the pocket, use his athleticism to extend plays, give himself time to think, and make a play with his legs if need be.
On paper we are, in my biased opinion, clearly the more talented team. They're going to have to throw to score, and that means Vaz should be getting well acquainted with Murphy, Chase, Gardner, and all the rest. I think we should be able to run the ball with some success, and Hogan gives us the missing ingredient on offense.
If we win the turnover battle or just stay neutral in that regard, I think we cover the spread.

On paper we are, in my biased opinion, clearly the more talented team. They're going to have to throw to score, and that means Vaz should be getting well acquainted with Murphy, Chase, Gardner, and all the rest. I think we should be able to run the ball with some success, and Hogan gives us the missing ingredient on offense.
